Anti-trans group Women’s Human Rights Campaign believes “sissy hypno porn” is hypnotising people into being trans

Women’s Human Rights Campaign submitted to Parliament that “hypno porn” is hypnotising men into being trans — they cite an article describing the dangers of a video with ‘a black and white spiral spinning slowly in the background’.

In a submission to the UK Parliament’s Women and Equalities Select Committee consultation on reform to the Gender Recognition Act, anti-trans group Women’s Human Rights Campaign (WHRC) informed the Committee that one of the “forces that construct transgenderism” is a “category of pornography called sissy hypno” which “hypnotises men to feel as if they are women”.

This would be hilarious — you have to laugh at the sheer ridiculousness of it — if it wasn’t part of a genuine attempt to influence policymakers to eliminate trans people.

For the record, the founders of this group that believes pornography is hypnotising men into being trans are Maureen O’Hara, Dr Sheila Jeffreys and Dr Heather Brunskell-Evans. All three of WHRC’s founders work(ed) at universities (Coventry, formerly Melbourne, and King’s College London respectively), so you’d expect the submission would be better than including a conspiracy theory that people are being hypnotised by videos into being trans. Turns out, being transphobic stops you from thinking well, no matter how highly-credentialled you might be (it might also mean you indulge in a spot of plagiarism when presenting yourself as an expert on trans issues).

In their submission to Parliament, WHRC’s evidence about the powers of hypnosis through porn comes from an article on the TERF website Feminist Current. In this article by Genevieve Gluck — cited in the submission as ‘Pornography’s Influence on Transgenderism: The Proliferation of Sissy Hypno on Social Media’ but clickbaitified on Feminist Current as ‘Why isn’t anyone talking about the influence of porn on the trans trend?’ — , which is typically sloppy and contains logical leaps and slips, a two-and-a-half-hour YouTube video is described, featuring ‘a still photo of a woman in sunglasses as a black and white spiral spins slowly in the background. There is a distant hum and an obviously fake computer-generated female voice instructing the listener to relax, and to snap back into a state of hypnosis upon hearing the phrase “bimbo doll,” which is accompanied by the sound of a female moan. In the background, quieter voices repeat the words, “bimbo doll.”’ It is cartoon-levels of ridiculousness to believe that this could hypnotise someone. Perhaps the members of WHRC watched too much of The Demon Headmaster in their younger days (CAUTION: open the previous link at your own risk — you may succumb to the Headmaster’s control).

According to the article, the video — entitled Bambi Bimbo Doll Conditioning— commands ‘the listener to “obey without question, obey without any concept of free will,” and to become “an eager, willing puppet, your own desires instantly, effortlessly replaced by a need to obey, a puppet with no concept of free will,” suggesting the listener’s IQ will go “spiralling downward as tits inflate.”’ It is through this method, so WHRC believes, people are hypnotised to be trans. And this is the conspiracy theory nonsense they are submitting to Parliament.

In Gluck’s articulation, above, of a sissy hypno video, “Bimbo doll” is a trigger phrase that effects those who have undergone a course of hypnosis via these videos. Upon hearing the phrase, the person who has been hypnotised is snapped ‘back into a state of hypnosis’. According to a sissy hypno website mentioned by Gluck — bambisleep.com — other trigger phrases include:

  • “Bambi freeze”: Body and mind lock — no movement or thoughts.
  • “Bambi limp”: Your body falls completely limp, unresponsive. Your legs fall apart, so they are open. Resistance causes you to go limper.
  • “Giggle time”: Bambi uncontrollably starts to giggle, making her mind weak.

Apparently, too, if someone who has been hypnotised by these videos hears the sound of windscreen wipers it “wipes away her thoughts and makes her dumb”.

It is utterly ridiculous WHRC have presented “porn videos are hypnotising men into being trans” as a serious idea to Parliament. Transphobia causes you to believe such incredible nonsense and ridiculous conspiracy theories.

(More on this nonsense in future posts.)
